Prometheus Rising

Robert Anton Wilson's book Prometheus Rising is, like his other Discordianesque creations, a magnificent mindfuck. In this book, he mentions Dr. Leonard Orr's model of human mind in which it's divided into two parts, the Thinker and the Prover. He says,
Whatever the Thinker thinks, the Prover will prove.
And if the Thinker thinks passionately enough, the Prover will prove the thought so conclusively that you will never talk a person out of such a belief, even if it is something as remarkable as the notion that there is a gaseous vertebrate of astronomical heft ("GOD") who will spend all eternity torturing people who do not believe in his religion.

I'm going to sleep now.

It's funny, i didn't understand a couple of words here (like vertebrate or heft - so i pasted the whole stuff into Altavista's web translator. The translation was magnificent:

i have no idea how they do it fucking badly

Gotta love web translators...

They tend to choke on anything non-trivial. It's usually much better to look up individual words on this weird meta-dictionary or on Merriam-Webster. My translation would be:

[*] Don't know how to translate the word "conclusively" correctly in this case. I hate translations.

Oh, and the little squares are Japanese characters. There will be many more of these on my Friends page.

conclusively

I think in this case it's better to use the word "убедительно". Because this "proof" is not an actual proof but rather a kind of self-delusion.
But then you should find something else for "talk out of". ;(

Though such translation is incorrect from the grammatical point of view, but I think it sounds better this way.
